BERINGER AERO Brings New Designs to AirVenture

STCs Will Make Landings Safer and Smoother

By Maria Morrison

The BERINGER AERO Company debuted a prototype for their new landing gear system, as well as their newest Supplemental Type Certificates (STC), at AirVenture this year. Claire Beringer, daughter of the founder Gilbert Beringer, presented a “very hasty mock-up” of the new spring gear. The oleo shock can easily be bolted onto the existing frame and the dampening pressure can be adjusted, which reduces up to three times the stress on the airplane. Claire expects that the spring gear will be experimental for several years before it is certified, and will generally be marketed to bush pilots, flight schools, experimental pilots, and those operating in rough terrain.

BERINGER is now “moving away from traditional bungees and into springs.” After three years of research and development, BERINGER also had their STC for Super Cub landing gear approved, which is now marketed to “off-airport aircraft.”

The “Ultimate Certified Package for Bush Pilots” that BERINGER is now offering consists of Cub master cylinders, the Alaskan landing gear, the experimental ground-loop resistant tailwheel, and the 6-inch and 10-inch wheel and brake setup.

BERINGER AERO also has a new STC for the Piper M350 and M500, which includes three wheels, four master cylinders, flexible brake lines, and wheel axles. The new tubeless tire will reduce tire punctures by 80%. The kit will also minimize landing distance by 30%. There is an additional STC for the Diamond DA40 NG, which includes the same items and is intended for flight schools.
