NBAA 2007: CMC Electronics Intros New, Updated Enhanced Flight Systems

CMA-2700 To Be Used In Bombardier's Global Vision Flight Deck

CMC Electronics announced at NBAA 2007 Monday the launch of its new, third-generation member of its SureSight family of I-Series integrated sensor systems for Enhanced Flight Vision System (EFVS) applications, as well as an update to its previous second-generation system.

CMC tells ANN the new CMA-2700 will feature next-generation digital signal processing, a high-resolution 640 x 512 pixel Focal Plane Array, and will be certified to the highest level yet for an integrated sensor system: Level B certification to DO-178B and DO-254.

The SureSight CMA-2700 has been selected by Rockwell Collins for use on the recently launched Bombardier Global Vision flight deck, a new and key feature on the high-speed Global 5000 and ultra long-range Global Express XRS business jets.

"CMC is building on its leadership in integrated sensor systems for EFVS applications by introducing a third-generation sensor that features the highest resolution Focal Plane Array in the industry," said CMC Electronics president and CEO Jean-Pierre Mortreux. "We are very excited to be working with Bombardier and Rockwell Collins on the new Global Vision flight deck and supplying an integrated sensor system for the Bombardier Enhanced Vision System (BEVS) that is designed to achieve the next level in video performance."

Also Monday, CMC announced the launch of its new CMA-2600i integrated sensor system -- an improved version of its certified, second-generation CMA-2600 sensor. The improved CMA-2600i offers enhancements in image processing within the existing hardware as well as improvements in optics and wave band filtering.

The CMA-2600i integrated sensor system has been selected by Rockwell Collins for use on the recently launched BEVS program for the new widebody Challenger 605 jet.

"We are delighted to be working with Bombardier and Rockwell Collins on the Challenger 605 jet," Mortreux said. "This selection builds on the superior in-service performance of our currently certified CMA-2600 sensor and represents the fifth OEM platform for our SureSight I-Series integrated sensor systems."

CMC's SureSight CMA-2600 integrated sensor system is currently used by Thales/Bombardier on the Global Express platform and by Rockwell Collins on the Dassault F2000 EASy series business aircraft.
