Timken Approved as Repair Source

To Repair Bearings For General Electric CF34-3 Engine

Timken Aerospace has been named by Cincinnati-based GE Transportation Aircraft Engines as an approved source for the licensed repair of bearings for the CF34 aircraft engine.

The approval covers all mainshaft bearings for all models of the CF34-1 and -3 engines, which are installed on Bombardier CL601/4 business jets and CRJ100/200 regional jets. Approximately 3,000 of these engines are in use today.

"With the expansion of the regional jet fleet, many engines are now entering their first maintenance overhaul cycle. As the first bearing manufacturer to receive approval from GE to perform Level 4 repairs of all manufacturers' bearings, we are excited about the opportunity to support engine overhaul shops worldwide on this new program," said J. Ron Menning, vice president of aerospace and defense. "This represents a significant step for us, and is the culmination of several years work cooperating with GE."

All bearing repairs on the CF34 engine will be performed at Timken Aerospace's Lebanon, NH, facility, which is an FAA-approved repair station.
