Warsaw Airport Closes Over Abandoned Motorcycle

Not Immediately Clear Who Left Bike Or Why

The Warsaw Okecie Airport was evacuated and closed Monday when police officers noticed an abandoned motorcycle in a terminal building.

According to United Press International, airport officials -- still jumpy over last month's attack at Glasgow Airport, involving a fuel-laden SUV -- felt the full evacuation was necessary until the threat status of the motorcycle could be ascertained.

Airport spokesperson, Artur Burak, told reporters all domestic and international flights had been delayed so authorities could conduct a security sweep.

Authorities could not immediately determine who had left the bike unattended in the terminal or why, he said.

A police official said the situation may have been due to simple negligence.

No word as of yet if the affected terminal has been reopened or affected flights rescheduled.
