Airborne 02.03.23: Daher's 2022, EAA B-17 Heads Home, The Last 747

Also: Startlingly Valuable Asteroid, Skydiving Museum, Airbus Hefts Inmarsat-6, Qatar v Airbus

Daher announced the delivery of 73 aircraft from the combined Kodiak and TBM lineup throughout 2022, with record orders for 100+ for delivery through 2024.

The news tracks with the greater surge in single-engine turboprop interest in recent years, showing strong customer interest even in some of the more boutique options offered by Daher. The EAA’s B-17, “Aluminum Overcast”, is on its way home back to Oshkosh, Wisconsin after undergoing repairs following damage from Hurricane Ian. The aircraft sustained minor damage near Punta Gorda, Florida last year while it was parked for an inspection while out on tour. Boeing has completed production of its 1,574th and final 747. Subject aircraft—a 747-8F freighter, registration N863GT—was delivered to cargo airline Atlas Air, the world’s largest operator of 747s, on 31 January 2023. The delivery marked the final chapter in an aeronautical saga that spans upwards of five-decades, one-hundred-plus customers, 54 airlines, 118-million flight hours, 23-million flight cycles, and an estimated four-billion passengers. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne-Unlimited!!!
