Environmentally Guilt-Free Training?
Carbon Neutral Plane announced
Monday a partnership with Angel City Flyers (ACF), a flight school
located in Long Beach, CA. ACF provides aviation training in the
newest, most technologically advanced aircraft... and now, through
its membership in the Carbon Neutral Plane program, it is also one
of the most environmentally friendly flight schools in the
country.
ACF is the first flight school to join the Carbon Neutral Plane
carbon offsetting program. The school provides a highly structured
and disciplined approach to flight training while emphasizing
flight standardization, standard operating procedures, and single
pilot resource management.
ACF train their students on single-engine Diamond Star DA40 and
twin-engine Diamond Twin Star DA42 plane models that feature glass
cockpits, enabling glass transition and technology training.
"When we decided to exclusively utilize Diamond Aircraft in our
training program, a key consideration was reducing environmental
impact through their fuel-efficient, turbo-diesel engines," said
Seosamh Somers, president of Angel City Flyers. "We've reduced what
we can and now, by joining the Carbon Neutral Plane program, we are
offsetting the rest."
"Angel City Flyers is precisely the type of business for which
we designed our program; a progressive, technically savvy operation
with a sensitivity to its customers' wishes," added Jeff Witwer,
president of Carbon Neutral Plane. "It is significant that Angel
City Flyers operates in the highly competitive Southern California
training market. They realized that by having their fleet certified
by Carbon Neutral Plane, they not only demonstrate their
environmental good-citizenship, but they positively impact their
business by appealing to environmentally concerned students."
Carbon Neutral Plane was the first organization in the United
States to offer programs specifically designed for general aviation
to certify that member aircraft are carbon neutral.
