Flightcell Announces New Firefighting Tool

Integration with Airborne Mission Systems Allows Mobile Data Capture

Aiding firefighting operators in their efforts, Flightcell has announced integration between their flagship product, the DZMx and Airborne Mission Systems’ AFDAU-T1 (Aerial Firefighting Data Acquisition Unit) to enhance the accuracy of data tracking, mission capability, and targeting accuracy.

The AFDAU-T1 already contains automated bucket calibration, volume detection, and data logging for contractual reporting needs, with the ability to mark the precise location of each fill and drop event. The DZMx is an all-in-one satellite and cellular solution for data transmission. The results are excellent for aerial firefighters:

  • Advanced inflight calling, WIFI, and Bluetooth of the DZMx combine with the AFDAU-T1 to send event reports, compliance data, events, additive tracking, engine start/stop and flight time.
  • Automatic bucket calibration with minimal pilot interaction, even when swapping buckets in a slung load configuration. Real time tracking of the same can be sent for remote monitoring and coordination.
  • Full NAFC and USFS compliance for automated data collection.

“After much testing and analysis we fully support and believe the AFDAU-T1 product is aligned with our product leadership strategy and saw value in endorsing this product to bring even greater value to aerial firefighting operators” says Shawn Deaker, Sales Manager at Flightcell. “When integrating the AFDAU-T1 with our DZMx, operators will experience further efficiency and productivity improvements, which translates to more time fighting fires and less time conducting dry runs”
