ANN's Boss and Chief Test Pilot is always happy to get a call
about flying a new airplane... and when a most recent call informed
him that a new version of the SR22 Turbo was on its way to see him,
he was VERY interested. Owning an SR22 Turbo for a year and a half,
such an announcement was bound to cause curiosity as he experience
we have had with his machine has been truly exemplary... which begs
one to question -- if it wasn't broke, why change it?
Cirrus has some interesting answers to that questions... namely
their belief that the airplane is quieter, smoother, more powerful
and READY for a number of fuel options that can only make a new
owner feel somewhat better with all the uncertainty about the
future of 100LL fuel.
Over an hour's test flying and some tight air-to-air
provided some interesting data... though the real proof of the
pudding will come as new owners take possession and use and abuse
them in the coming months.
Cirrus Aircraft is a member of the global portfolio of Arcapita
companies. Its SR20 and SR22 family of composite airplanes
incorporate innovative and advanced performance and safety
technologies, including the unique Cirrus Airframe Parachute System
(CAPS™).
As of mid 2010, total time on the worldwide Cirrus Aircraft
SR-series fleet surpassed 3.5 million hours with more than 40 lives
saved to date as a direct result of CAPS being a standard safety
feature on all Cirrus aircraft. The Cirrus Aircraft Vision Jet,
with nearly 500 production positions reserved, will provide a new
personal and regional business transportation solution - the
'personal jet'.
