Lone Star Flight Museum Ready For #Givingtuesday

Officially Opened In Houston In Late September After Move From Galveston, TX

The recently-reopened Lone Star Flight Museum has been accepting visitors since late September, and is now fully up and operating at its new, $38 million home at Ellington Airport.

The museum had been located in Galveston, but was flooded by hurricane Ike in 2008. Ironically, the official opening was to have been on September 2 in Houston, but that ceremony was delayed by hurricane Harvey earlier this year. Fortunately, museum spokeswoman Lisa Spence told Houston Culture Map online that the new facility was not damaged by the storm.

On Giving Tuesday ... a day that encourages people to make donations for the holiday season ... the museum, a 501 (c)(3) non profit organization is seeking donations for its education programs and aircraft exhibits.

According to the museum website, the museum is expanding its educational footprint to serve visitors of all ages and socio-economic backgrounds.

Emphasizing the concepts of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), the museum’s vision is to be a world class interactive educational cornerstone for aviation history and STEM education.

You can make a donation directly from their web page.
