Angel Flight West Names Dias As Executive Director

Has Flown For Organization Since 1993

Angel Flight West, the country's largest volunteer pilot organization, has appointed Alan M. Dias as Executive Director. A licensed pilot, Dias has been flying missions for the organization since 1993, and previously served as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors.

"Alan's experience positions him as a leader who can continue the growth of our organization," said Douglas C. Griffith, AFW Board Member. "As a pilot who has flown many missions, he understands not only the needs and motivations of our volunteer pilots who are the foundation of Angel Flight West, but also the critical role of volunteer aviation in our country's general aviation system."

An experienced human resources professional, with a Bachelor of Arts in Industrial Psychology, Dias founded and owned several human resources staffing and consulting businesses. He earned his private pilot's license in 1979, and recently completed his commercial license training. In 1994, Dias became certified as an AFW Command Pilot. Since then, he has flown dozens of missions and overseen the training and orientation of other Command Pilots.

During his five years on the Board of Directors, he served as Vice Chair, Chair of the Board Development Committee and Chair of the Human Resources Committee. He was a Big Brother for eight years and is an active Rotarian.

Founded in 1983, AFW's 1,500+ volunteer pilot members provide free air transportation for non-emergency health care issues throughout the 13 western states.
