Alarus Customers To Be Supported By Zenair
John Degonia, sales manager of Aircraft Manufacturing &
Design, told ANN this week about some big changes for that company,
and some of its customers.
AMD has relocated to a new manufacturing facility, across the
field at Heart of Georgia Regional Airport (EZM) in Eastman. The
move is part of a re-organization effort aimed at creating a
long-term structure to ultimately better serve its customers,
including increased production rates of its Zodiac and Patriot
light-sport aircraft.
You might notice a name missing from AMD's product line: the
Part 23-certified Alarus. AMD says another aspect of its
restructuring is to focus exclusively on LSA, with production of
the Alarus continuing at Zenair Ltd of Canada.
Loss of 1/3 of its product line
shouldn't be taken as a sign of tough times at AMD, company
officials stressed -- and pointed to the long term "lease to own"
agreement AMD signed for the brand new 25,000 square-foot
commercial building as an example of its full intent to stick
around.
"Yes, the company is investing for the long term; it is
aggressively positioning itself to become a significant US
manufacturer of LSA," said Degonia. "Clearly, the focus of AMD is
aircraft that are designed and built to the new Light Sport (LSA)
standards."
Another recent achievement for AMD is that it just received
Product Liability Insurance approval from one of the major
insurance underwriters for the Light Sport Aircraft that it
produces. AMD says the new offering sets it apart from almost all
other LSA manufacturers... and again, will ultimately benefit its
customers.
Current Alarus owners and operators in need of parts will be
serviced by Zenair Ltd at 705-526-2871; all Alarus-related service
information will continue to be distributed through the Internet,
here.
