Miracle Flights Announces Record July

Performed 760 Medical Transport Flights

Miracle Flights has announced a record number of flights coordinated during the month of July, with 760 flights provided last month to children and adults in need of specialized, distant medical care. This marks a substantial increase of 26 percent from last July's total of 603 flights performed.

Now in its 32nd year, the Las Vegas–based nonprofit organization fills a critical gap by connecting patients who suffer from rare and life-threatening conditions to the medical experts who can best treat them. Commercial flights are arranged at no cost to families and provided as many times as necessary.

"A key aspect of Miracle Flights is that we are not age restrictive, nor are we diagnosis specific—which means we will fly anyone who has a complex medical need that requires out-of-state care," said Miracle Flights CEO Mark E. Brown. "One family we fly is a mom and her five-year-old son who share the same rare condition called Relapsing Polychondritis. The role Miracle Flights plays in helping both of them get the care they need, together, is incredibly meaningful."

Operating both domestically and internationally, Miracle Flights has to date performed a total of 110,844 free medical flights and flown more than 62 million miles. In July alone, Miracle Flights fulfilled requests from 30 states and seven countries, including Germany, Brazil and Israel.
