Verifly Ups Coverage Limits For Drone Operators

Pilots Can Now Get Limited-Time Insurance Up To $2.5 Million

Drone operators can now purchase liability insurance of up to $2.5 million for individual flights through Verifly, an app that has been insuring drone pilots since its launch in August of last year.

The website dronelife.com reports that Verifly has also increased the coverage areas and time periods for insurance, and allows operators to self-certify that they have received permission to fly in restricted areas.

Verifly charges for insurance by the hour, which the pilot can then charge back to the client. That way, the customer has proof of insurance, and the operator does not pay for insurance he or she does not need.

The new version of the app has more features that are designed specifically for professional pilots, including the self-certification system, packages for four- and eight-hours of coverage for jobs that might require more than one flight, and a larger coverage area of up to a 1/2 mile radius from the specified location.
