Aero-TV: AKG Aviation’s AV-100 - A LightWeight, ANR, Bluetooth Headset

Headsets Are An Intensely Competitive Product... But The AV100 Looks Promising

While at the last of the AOPA regional fly-ins in 2014, ANN CEO and Editor-In-Chief, Jim Campbell, checked out the AV100 headset that is produced by AKG.

He met up with Heath Lawson the national sales manager for AKG Aviation. Lawson explained the company organization and said AKG has been prominent in the music industry providing headsets and microphones for over 60 years.

As Harmon goes through the features of the AV100, it leads us to think that if it could just cook breakfast, it would have every feature we could want. The video goes into some great detail but here’s just a few items to whet your appetite.

It’s a lightweight headset at about 14 ounces that includes Bluetooth connectivity for both the aircraft and telephone. The headset can be powered through a battery or via a connection to the airplane power supply, and it has a unique feature that automatically turns the ANR on and off to save battery-powered.

Another feature that was new to us is that the headset includes map lights. A single button on the controller manages the bluetooth and allows you to answer phone calls and perform other functions.

Watch the video to see how all these cool features work.
