Florida, Missouri Governors Declare April 'Aviation Appreciation Month'

Issue Proclamations Recognizing The Importance Of GA In Their States

National aviation organizations applauded Florida Governor Rick Scott and Missouri Governor Jeremiah W. (Jay) Nixon for declaring April “General Aviation Appreciation Month.”

In Missouri, general aviation accounts for $857 million in annual economic activity, and supports over 7,000 jobs statewide, while in Florida, GA supports 54,000 jobs and accounts for $6 billion to the state's economy.

The Alliance for Aviation Across America (AAAA) thanked both governors for their recognition of the importance of the general aviation industry, saying that GA plays a central role in both state's economies and in supporting jobs and area companies.

Both governors were praised by trade groups and associations representing aviation, including the NBAA, AOPA, EAA, the National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO), NATA, and HAI.
