Two Injured in Afghanistan Apache Helicopter Crash

Two crewmembers were injured Friday when a US military AH-64 Apache helicopter crashed today during a training mission on a range near Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan, Combined Forces Command Afghanistan officials reported.

Hostile fire is not suspected in the incident, officials said. US forces have secured the crash site and are conducting an investigation.

The injured crewmembers are being treated at the base. No report was immediately available on their condition.

The AH-64 Apache is The Army's heavy division/corps attack helicopter. The AH-64D Longbow remanufacture effort incorporates a millimeter wave fire control radar (FCR), radar frequency interferometer (RFI), fire-and-forget radar-guided HELLFIRE missile and cockpit management and digitization enhancements. The combination of the FCR, RFI, and the advanced navigation and avionics suite of the aircraft provide increased situational awareness, lethality and survivability.
