EHang Pre-Sells 50 eVTOLs in Japan

EH216 Proves Popular in Japan with Sale to Helicopter Charter Company AirX

EHang holding s announced that one of the bigger Japanese air mobility companies, AirX, has placed a pre-order for 50 units of their EH216 AAV, making it the biggest order ever received in-country.

The manufacturer has made consistent progress in neighboring Japan, a country that often appears whenever improvements to unmanned and advanced aircraft are on the table. Japan sees the improvement in transportation and freight transport as key to serve their aging population in the coming decades. The pre-order is meant to facilitate AirX's Urban Air Mobility projects in the works, predominately in air taxi service at the 2025 World Expo in Osaka, Japan. Their previous expertise as a primary helicopter provider in the country has given them a solid digital ecosystem for route operations, online reservation, and private charter offerings. The addition of sustainable eVTOL aircraft tot heir mix will take their operations, whether passenger service, sightseeing, or aerial commuting should take them into the realm of household name in the island nation.

"The low-altitude transportation and tourism market has great potential and broad prospects. By leveraging the advantages of autonomous flight technologies and centralized management, the EH216 AAVs can provide customers with cost-effective aerial sightseeing services, which is why AirX selects EHang as a partner in the global eVTOL market. We look forward to offering consumers safer and more convenient travel options with the EH216 in the future," said Tezuka Kiwamu, Founder AirX.

Huazhi Hu, Founder, Chairman and CEO of EHang, said the sale is another example of EHang's share in the Eastern AAM market. "Our partnership with AirX marks a key milestone for us to further explore and develop the UAM market in Japan. We are very delighted to see an increasing number of air transportation partners are introducing EHang's safe, autonomous and sustainable urban air mobility solutions to the general public."
