CASA AD: SMA

Applicability: SMA SR305-230 engines fitted to CESSNA 182 and REIMS-CESSNA F182 aeroplanes.

Requirement: Unless previously accomplished carry out the accomplishment instructions of paragraph 3 of SMA Service Bulletin No SB-C182-71-002 or later DGAC approved revision.

Note: DGAC AD F-2006-007 EASA approval No. 2005-6451 dated 23 December 2005 refers.

Compliance: Before further flight following the effective date of this AD.

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 31 January 2006.

Background: During testing in cold weather conditions, it has been established that engine flameout may occur at low power operation. As a result operating limitations are to be imposed to prevent an engine stall that may cause forced landing of the aeroplane.
