FAA Issues TSO For ARTEX ELT-DT

ACR Product Aligns With ICAO, EASA, Other Global Standards

ACR Electronics announced it has received FAA Technical Standard Order (TSO) certification for its new ARTEX ELT 5000 Emergency Locator Transmitter with Distress Tracking (ELT-DT) that is designed to be compatible with the ICAO, EASA, and other global civil aviation standards.

The ARTEX ELT 5000 enhances aviation safety by ensuring autonomous distress tracking during emergency events.

The International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) Global Aeronautical Distress and Safety System (GADSS) initiative stipulates that commercial transport aircraft delivered beginning January 2025 must autonomously report their location during distress conditions anywhere in the world. The ARTEX ELT 5000 is engineered to meet those rigorous requirements and advances aviation safety technology by providing real-time, precise tracking capabilities that ensure faster responses during critical situations.

Key features of the ARTEX ELT 5000 include:

  • Autonomous Distress Tracking: Automatically activates during stress conditions and transmits location
  • Real-Time Distress Tracking Location Reporting: Uses GNSS tech to acquire aircraft’s location and send precise coordinates to Cospas-Sarsat
  • Seamless Avionics Integration: Interfaces with aircraft avionics systems for reliable activation and transmission
  • Global Satellite Coverage: Operates on the Cospas-Sarsat satellite network, ensuring worldwide monitoring and response capability

The real-time in-flight location updates is a significant advancement that enables search and rescue personnel to respond quickly and accurately to reduce search times in emergency scenarios.

In addition, the ELT-5000 can quickly cancel alerts if the original distress event is resolved.
