AD: Viking Air Limited Airplanes

AD NUMBER: 2018-21-02

PRODUCT: Viking Air Limited Model DHC-3 airplanes.

ACTION: Final Rule.

SUMMARY: This AD results from mandatory continuing airworthiness information (MCAI) issued by an aviation authority of another country to identify and correct an unsafe condition on an aviation product.

The MCAI describes the unsafe condition as pitting corrosion on the shank of the wing strut attach bolts.

DATES: This AD is effective November 28, 2018.

COST: The FAA estimates that this AD will affect 37 products of U.S. registry. Operators may incur the following costs in order to comply with this AD:

  • The FAA estimates that it would take about 4 work-hours per product to comply with the basic requirements of this AD. The average labor rate is $85 per work-hour. Based on these figures, the cost of this AD is estimated to be $340 per product.
