STC Approved for CHRONOS Digital Clock with USB Chargers

Added Convenience for Crews Flying Multiple Learjet Models

Butler National Corporation and Mid-Continent Instruments and Avionics have received an FAA Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for a clock upgraded with USB charging ports that can replace the OEM-installed clock in 24 Learjet models.

The CHRONOS digital clock with USB-A and USB-C chargers are a drop-in installation fitting into the same panel location requiring only wiring and circuit breaker changes.

The USB charging capability is desirable because it provides added convenience for cockpit crew to replenish portable electronics such as EFBs and phones. The STC authorizes the replacement in Learjet models 24, 24B/D/E/F/, 25, 255B/C/D/F, 28, 29, 31, 31A, 35, 35A, C21A, 36, 36A, 55, 55B, 55C, 60, and 60XR. Extending the STC to additional models will depend on the level of customer interest. In this collaboration, Mid-Continent manufactures the clock while Butler/ and its subsidiary Avcon Industries, Inc. provide the retrofit installation kit, which was designed to minimize downtime.

Christopher Reedy, President and Chief Executive Officer of Butler National Corporation said, “Butler is pleased to have worked with Mid-Continent Instruments and Avionics to offer this very desired USB charging capability in the cockpit.”

Mid-Continent’s Director of Aftermarket Sales and Support, Van Winter said, “CHRONOS is a simple, drop-in replacement for most existing clocks. This cost-effective upgrade adds superior, FAA-approved functionality to the flight deck with minimal impact to the instrument panel.”
