Airborne-NextGen 08.08.23: USAF AI, UAV Safety Chute, Skydio Ukraine

Also: SkyDrive-Avidyne, Hydrogen Propulsion, Ampaire, General Atomics STOL UAS

Utilizing complex Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms and sophisticated automation technologies, Air Force researchers have successfully performed the first unmanned, wholly autonomous flight of an aircraft.

The three-hour sortie was flown by an XQ-58A Valkyrie, an experimental, stealthy, Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle (UCAV) designed and built by Kratos Defense & Security Solutions for USAF’s Low Cost Attritable Strike Demonstrator (LCASD) program. ParaZero Technologies recently inked a deal to supply their SafeAir system to an “air taxi and cargo drone solutions company in the USA. ParaZero’s SafeAir is, looking past the corporate fluff, a smaller, more compact ballistic parachute system for uncrewed or multirotor aircraft in the greater UAV family. The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) announced the delivery of 9 autonomous drones donated by Skydio to the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne-NextGen!!!
