Aviat Trying to Stay 'Well-Oiled'

Endorses ExxonMobil Oil For New Huskys, Pitts And Eagles

Recognizing the high quality and long term benefits of Exxon Oil, Aviat Aircraft is now recommending the product in its Pilot Operating Handbooks for the Husky, Pup, Pitts and Eagle. They will be providing new owners of aircraft from Aviat with a free case of Exxon mineral oil to cover the engine break-in period.

"We looked at the oil products on the market and decided that Exxon has a standard and a set of beneficial ingredients that could, with regular maintenance, extend engine life and provide a level of reliability that will clearly benefit our customers," said Aviat President Stu Horn.

"It's an issue of added value and confidence, both of which will keep our pilots happy and our aircraft in the sky more often. Most manufacturers don't take a stand on engine oil, but we did the research and feel it's important."

Aviat produces three ready-to-fly aircraft and one complete aircraft kit for the homebuilder market. The Husky is a popular two-place, high wing taildragger that appeals to bush and recreational pilots. The new Pup, which is considerably less expensive than the Husky, flies just as fast on a smaller engine and does not have flaps. The Pitts Special is a world class aerobatic aircraft that leads all other designs in the number of times it has been in the winners' circle at aerobatic competitions. The Eagle, designed by Frank Christensen, is a kit aircraft that has also been very successful in competition and airshow aerobatics.
