Cicaré Shows Off Their Latest, Two-Seat Design

The Cicaré 8 Model Features Side-by-Side Seating

The Cicaré 8 is an advanced ultralight helicopter kit (as defined internationally). It was showcased at the Cicaré booth at EAA’s Oshkosh Airventure. Augusto “Pirincho” Cicaré built his first engine for a washing machine at age 11. Then, at age 21, he finished building his first helicopter: the Cicaré CH-1. 

This was the first of its kind in the entire southern hemisphere, making Cicaré a pioneer in the field.

Cicaré S.A. was officially founded in 1972 in Saladillo, Argentina. It was popularized merely eight years later with the  invention of the first ultralight aircraft. Since then, its helicopters have been recognized by the Argentine military, the Argentine University of Enterprise, the Helicopter International Association, and others for their groundbreaking  technology.

Today, the company’s “adventure machines” are some of the most powerful on the market. The latest design, the Cicaré 8, is a two-seater side-by-side ultralight helicopter with a 140hp Rotax 915 iS engine. It was built with several features for increased function and comfort, including ample instrumentation, a carbon fiber semi-monocoque cockpit, adjustable tail rotor pedals, and a configurable dashboard. Development was completed in 2018, and thirty have since been distributed throughout South America and Europe.

One of the Cicaré 8's main perks is its relatively low operational costs. It runs on autogas, burning an average of 4.5 to 5 gallons per hour. “Cicaré USA’s goal,” explains Cicaré CEO Keith Barr, “is to really provide the support, and hopefully, a low-cost helicopter – an affordable helicopter – to that sport helicopter market.”

The Cicaré 8 on display at Airventure was built in Reno, Nevada, and is the first model to be used in the United States. The company has been known as an industry trailblazer for decades, and its new designs consistently amaze and astonish the market.
