Aero-TV: Multi-Function Avionics - The AeroVonics Approach

Including A Probeless Angle Of Attack Display

AeroVonics displayed its AV-20 & AV-20-S Multi-Function Displays at AirVenture 2018. The instrument provides a wide array of supplemental flight information. The AV-20 provides 9 functions, while the AV-20-S model provides 12 functions.

The unit incorporates a full color sunlight readable display, bezel-mounted light sensor for automatic display brightness, and an internal battery for operation in the event of power loss. The AV-20-S connects to the pitot and static systems of the aircraft, while the AV-20 model does not.

Certification for both instruments is "in process", according to the company.

The AeroVonics AV-30 is a fully digital dual-mode attitude and direction indicator that replaces the corresponding legacy vacuum driven instruments in older general aviation aircraft.

When configured as an Attitude Indicator, the AV-30 can replace the legacy stand-alone attitude indicator providing a solid-state presentation of roll, pitch and slip. When configured as a direction indicator, it can replace the non-slaved directional gyro.

In both modes, supplemental data can be presented as graphical and textual overlays, fully configurable by the pilot. If interfaced to a compatible panel mount GPS navigator, GPS navigational data such as current waypoint, distance to waypoint, cross track error, and more can be overlaid, and direction can be slaved to GPS track. When interfaced to an OAT probe, temperature corrected air data and GPS navigation information can be displayed.
