Icon A5 Down In Michigan Two On Board Injured During Demonstration Flight

Two On Board Injured Then The Plane Went Down Shortly After Takeoff

An Icon A5 went down Saturday in Littlefield Lake in Isabella County, MI Saturday, resulting in serious injuries to one of the two men on board.

The Morning Sun newspaper reports that, according to Isabella County Sheriff's deputies who witnessed the accident, the plane was taking off from the lake when it appeared to struggle to gain altitude, began a turn, struck a tree and then went down in about 16 feet of water.

The deputies, who were patrolling the lake on personal watercraft at the time of the accident, responded immediately. When they arrived at the scene of the accident, the found good Samaritans helping the two men on board get out of the aircraft.

The occupants were identified as the owner of the airplane, Tyrone Finch, 54, from Tennessee, and 62-year-old Partick Jarman from Deerfield Township in Michigan.

Finch reportedly suffered slight injuries. Jarman was more seriously hurt. Both were transported to a local medical facility, and Jarman was later taken by helicopter to Grand Rapids, MI where he was listed in serious condition.

The plane was towed to shore before it could sink.
