Cargo Plane Down In Toledo, OH

Two Fatally Injured When Convair 440 Impacted Terrain

A Convair 440 went down early Wednesday morning on approach to Toledo Express Airport in northwest Ohio, resulting in the fatal injury of the two people on board the airplane.

CNN reports that there are few details about the airplane, its cargo or its owner. The plane went down at 2:30 a.m. outside an auto repair business located just east of the airport. The aircraft impacted several unoccupied cars parked at the business, and left a trail of fiery debris, according to airport manager Joe Rotterdam.

Authorities found the bodies of the two occupants of the airplane, according to port authority spokeswoman Kayla Lewandowski. They were not immediately identified.

The FAA said the flight had originated at Millington-Memphis airport in Tennessee.
