Blackhawk Aerospace Installs 1st Autothrottle, Autoland in King Air 200

Updated Avionics Yield Safer, More Convenient Aircraft

Blackhawk Aerospace Technologies has finished installation of the first Autothrottle & Autoland-equipped G1000 NXi in a King Air 200.

The new avionics add a hefty dose of additional safety to the turboprop twin, particularly nice for those who privately operate theirs without a second-in-command. For a well-heeled family hauler, automated landing capability could mean life or death for all aboard should the pilot become incapacitated - exactly why the G1000 NXi suite has found so much traction in the single-engine turboprop market already. In addition to the safety element, the G1000 sports all the same niceties as the series always does, reducing crew workload with well-thought-out menus and functions.

In the twin, the Autothrottle system manages power levels in every phase of flight, based on manufacturer or user selections. "If the system detects an overtemp, over torque, or flap over speed situation, it automatically reduces engine power. If the system detects under speed conditions, it will automatically increase engine power."

"BAT is proud to be the first to deliver this exciting new technology to the market," said Conrad Theisen, VP of Sales & Marketing at BAT. "While King Airs are known for their versatility, they can sometimes be demanding for the crew. Autothrottle and Autoland increase the pilot’s bandwidth for added operational safety."
