Atlantic Renovating, Expanding FBO In Birmingham, Alabama

Adding New Executive Terminal, Hangars, Ramp Area

Atlantic Aviation announced the groundbreaking on an extensive renovation and expansion of their FBO operation at Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport (KBHM) in Alabama, with airport officials, city leaders, and Atlantic leadership attending the ceremony.

Atlantic is adding a new executive terminal, additional hangars, and more ramp area to their leasehold, bringing significant improvements to the facility and its amenities. Its infrastructure expansion includes a new higher-capacity fuel farm, and 60,000 square feet of additional hangar and shop space.

The hangars will have 28-foot main doors to handle the largest aircraft. An additional seven acres of ramp space with concrete hardstands for large group charter aircraft will be built adjacent to a secure private terminal in one of the new hangars.

Kurt Schmidt, Senior Vice President of Operations for Atlantic’s Southeast Region said, “This investment in the expansion of our presence in Birmingham is a result of outstanding collaboration with airport and city leadership.”

“And while we take great pride in the design of the new facility itself, we are equally as proud of the economic development benefits it will bring to the airport, its users, and the local community,” he added.

The centerpiece of the project will be the 7,500 square foot new executive FBO terminal building with an interior design incorporating luxury with functionality as well as some of that legendary southern charm. With a large open lobby and reception area, a café, multiple conference rooms, and a large crew lounge and flight planning area, both passengers and air crews will have comfort and utility to enhance their trips.
