AIRSHO 2008 Coming Soon To Midland, TX

Event Runs September 19-21

The FINA-CAF AIRSHO 2008, billed as the "Best Warbird Show in America," will be held Friday, September 19th through Sunday the 21st, in celebration of American military aviation. The show will include the Commemorative Air Force's extensive collection of flying Warbirds, modern military and daring aerobatic flights.

More than 100 warbirds will be on display at this year's event in Midland, TX according to event organizers.

The entertainment begins on Friday, September 19 at 8:00 pm, with a live performance by country music star Aaron Tippin. Families will enjoy watching the Jet Powered School Bus race along the runway at speeds topping 300 miles per hour. With more than 42,000 horsepower the school bus will light up the early evening prior to Aaron Tippin’s performance.

After the concert, look to the sky for a night AIRSHO performance by Matt Younkin in his graceful Twin Beech 18!

Jan Collmer in his FINA EXTRA 300L officially opens AIRSHO at noon on Saturday, September 20. Jan will put his aircraft though a breathtaking display of maneuvers, including awe-inspiring torque rolls and tail slides.

The CAF will then recreate historic battles of World War II and Vietnam, using its collection of rare classic warbirds. The show will include aerial dogfights, simulated bomb explosions that rock the ground and a recreation of the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor with the world-renowned Tora, Tora, Tora pilots.

AIRSHO pairs some of World War II’s legendary aircraft with today’s most versatile jets in the Air Force Heritage Flight. The A-10 West Coast Demo Team will demonstrate precision military aerial maneuvers, with strafing and bombing runs.

Collecting, restoring and flying warbirds for more than half a century, the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) ranks as one of the largest private air forces in the world. The CAF is dedicated to Honoring American Military Aviation through flight, exhibition and remembrance with a flying museum of classic military aircraft.

Discount tickets for AIRSHO 2008 are available at all 7-Eleven stores. Tickets can also be purchased by calling (888) 945-3008 or (432) 563-1000, or from the event Web site.
