Bell Helicopter Recognizes State Representative Jim Murphy

Selected For The 2014 Bell Helicopter Legislative Leadership Award

Bell Helicopter has recognized Texas State Representative Jim Murphy with the Bell Helicopter Legislative Leadership Award. The award honors elected officials who have been supporters of the aerospace and defense industries and who have fostered an environment of economic growth in Texas.

“Rep. Murphy understands the needs of his constituents and the businesses who call his district home,” said Brian Chase, Director of Global Public Affairs at Bell Helicopter. “We appreciate Rep. Murphy’s support of HB 3121 and HB 500 and his commitment to growing jobs and strengthening the economic environment in Texas. He recognizes that the aerospace industry is a vital part of the state and U.S. industrial base and our long-term economic and national security.”

Rep. Murphy supported HB 3121 during the 83rd Texas Legislative Session, which modified the current Freeport Tax exemption in Texas law and provides constitutional relief for advanced manufacturing facilities who hold inventory stored in the state. He also authored HB 500, which reduced the burden the franchise tax places on Texas businesses.

The award was presented to Rep. Murphy in Houston’s Westchase business district.
