EAA WomenVenture Announces Speakers

15th Annual Female Booster Event Held July 27th

EAA WomenVenture has announced the theme for 2022, selecting "Be Bold" as the focus of their 15th year encouraging and supporting women in aviation.

The 69th fly-in for the EAA's yearly AirVenture will see the near entirety of the aviation world descend upon the Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The EAA's WomenVenture Center, a new addition to the week, will be placed in Aviation Gateway Park featuring a selection of network events to support the advancement of women in aviation, as well as resources for those currently in similar fields or looking to be a part of them in the future.

AirVenture will be held from July 25 to the 31st, and the WomenVenture Center will be open throughout the week. Many of the banner events, however, will take place on July 27th, like the group photo of attendee women at the Boeing Plaza, or the annual "Power Lunch" held at Theater in the Woods with keynote speaker Eileen Collins. Collins made history as the first woman to pilot a NASA space shuttle mission, even commanding one later in her career. On the evening of the 27th, a selection of evening programs at the theater will feature a discussion by women in aerobatics and the effects it has had on their flying skills. Guests for that panel will include Steph Stricklen, Vanessa Christie, Patty Wagstaff, Julie Clark, Susan Bell, Debbie Rihn-Harvey, Melanie Astles, Vicky Benzing, and Jessy Panzer.

Participants at WomenVenture will be eligible to receive the 15th anniversary T-shirt designed by pilot Christy Holy. They can be pre-ordered for pickup at AirVenture by registering at the EAA website, along with tickets for AirVenture 2022.

"In 2022 we are bringing back many of the activities that are most popular with attendees, from the group photo on Boeing Plaza to the power lunch and evening programs on Wednesday, July 27,” said Margaret Brill of the EAA Aviation Foundation, one of the head organizers for WomenVenture activities. “As we celebrate 15 years of this program, the heart of it remains the same: encouraging women to find their place in the aviation world and be bold with their ideas, dreams, and talents.”
