NATCA Congratulates TTD Officers On Re-Election

Transportation Trades Department Reaffirms President Ed Wytkind, Secretary-Treasurer Larry Willis

The National Air Traffic Controllers Association, a member affiliate of the Transportation Trades Department (TTD), AFL-CIO, issued a statement congratulating TTD President Ed Wytkind and Secretary-Treasurer Larry Willis on being re-elected to their respective positions during TTD’s 25th anniversary convention and Executive Committee meeting.

“Ed and Larry are strong, passionate leaders and great supporters of our nation’s transportation workers, including NATCA’s represented aviation safety professionals,” NATCA President Paul Rinaldi said. “Ed provides an essential voice on behalf of transportation workers and Larry works tirelessly on behalf of TTD and its affiliates. They make a formidable team and we are very excited that they will remain in office for another term. Our members know TTD has their backs on important issues.”

TTD represents 32 transportation unions in all sectors of transportation (highway, transit, rail, Amtrak, bus, maritime, aviation, and transportation manufacturing) to provide a unified voice on many labor transportation issues.

In aviation, TTD works with the unions, including NATCA, that represent air traffic controllers, engineers, flight attendants, pilots, mechanics, ramp workers, FAA maintenance employees and inspectors, customer service agents, and others to protect the jobs and rights of aviation workers.

“Ed and Larry, as well as the entire TTD staff, have done a great job of working with NATCA leadership to ensure that NATCA’s priorities are always a part of TTD’s agenda,” NATCA Executive Vice President Trish Gilbert said. “Paul and I value our long-standing relationship with Ed and our participation in TTD.”

Ed has been shaping TTD’s expertise and policy agenda for more than two decades, from the organization’s inception. He assisted transportation unions in developing the policy platform that led to the organization’s launch in 1990. Prior to being elected president in 2003, he served as the organization’s executive director.

Willis, in addition to his financial responsibilities, leads and oversees TTD’s policy, legislative, and legal activities, representing the interests of TTD and its affiliate unions before Congress and among key Executive Branch officials. He was first elected secretary-treasurer in 2010 after serving as TTD’s General Counsel and Chief of Staff.
