NBAA 2007: Air Taxi Coalition Aims To Present United Front On Policy

Companies Include SATSAir, DayJet, Eclipse Aviation

Several companies -- including a number of air taxi operators and a manufacturer of the next generation of new aircraft -- announced at NBAA 2007 Monday they have come together to form the Next Generation Air Mobility Coalition (NGAMC). Through NGAMC, these companies aim to develop positions on public policies unique to their emerging industry.

NGAMC's mission is to provide increased air mobility by spurring the visibility, growth and acceptance of the next generation of air transportation. Coalition members include manufacturers, suppliers and operators, and the communities they serve. The coalition plans to provide educational outreach to policy makers, work closely with Executive Branch agencies to ensure the next generation air transportation needs are addressed, and promote the identity of this new and revolutionary industry.

First and foremost, NGAMC is committed to accelerated adoption of Next Generation Air Transportation System (NextGen) equipage and operating capabilities in their products and services.  These operating capabilities are vital for the expansion of national airspace capacity, while reducing the environmental footprint and the cost for this expansion.

The NGAMC will be working with key players in developing the future of NGATS, such as the Joint Planning and Development Office (JDPO). Advising the group on technical issues will be Dr. Bruce J. Holmes who recently retired from NASA after 33 years and was instrumental in the strategic development of the JPDO.

In addition, NGAMC will be managed by Wexler & Walker Public Policy Associates and the firm's Chairman, former Congressman Bob Walker, will be a key advisor.

"Aviation and aerospace are a dynamic and critical part of the world economy," said Walker. "The US has always been the leader not only technically but in innovation.  I am pleased to be helping lead a coalition that will promote understanding and acceptance of new aircraft, new services and what will eventually emerge as a new industry."

Walker is the former Chairman of the US House Science Committee and recently served President Bush as Chairman of the Commission on the Future of the Aerospace Industry.

NGAMC companies include DayJet Corporation, Eclipse Aviation, Jet-Alliance, Inc., Linear Air, and SATSAir. The NGAMC continues to seek supporters from among the community of aircraft manufacturers, suppliers and service providers.
