Delta Simulator Technicians Reject Union Representation For A Second Time

NMB Rules Allow IAM Seven Days To Contest The Vote

Delta Air Lines received notification late last week from the National Mediation Board (NMB) that a majority of simulator technicians have again rejected representation by the International Association of Machinists (IAM).

In a memo issued Thursday to Delta's simulator technicians, Senior Vice President of Flight Operations Steve Dickson responded to the technicians' decision:

"Today the National Mediation Board (NMB) reported a majority of Delta's simulator technicians have rejected IAM representation. We are pleased our combined simulator technician workgroup has once again chosen a direct relationship with Delta leaders. This relationship is one of the most important aspects of our unique culture.

"The NMB procedures provide seven business days - until September 27 - for a participant to contest an election. We will be communicating next steps as soon as this period expires. We hope all concerned are prepared to move on and respect the decision of our simulator technicians. Thank you for your trust and your continued focus and professionalism during both elections. As we move forward together as a unified team, we will continue to make Delta a great place to work."

There were 91 flight simulator technicians eligible to vote in this election. Of those, 18 voted for IAM representation, with 23 other write-in votes.
