$14,000 Price Cut For Next Four Airplanes

Admitting "it is hard to think of finding a silver lining in today's financial situation," AirGyro Aviation president Nate Oldham told ANN this week of an enticing, limited-time offer on the company's Outback 2 light sport aircraft that comes pretty close, if you're in the market for an LSA.

Previously offered at a base price of $103,995, the basic Outback 2 can now be purchased for only $89,995 -- a savings of $14,000.

As ANN reported, the Outback 2 is an Australian-built light sport airplane that received its American S-LSA certification at AirVenture 2008. The Outback 2 is a large, rugged airplane with a welded steel primary fuselage structure, encased in a sleek composite shell. Aluminum wings and steel landing gear add to the Outback’s ability to operate from unprepared airfields.

With a cruise speed of 105 knots and range of over 600 miles, the Outback 2 is well adapted for recreational use in the US, Oldham says.

"The economic crisis has caused a lot of havoc, but the worth of the US dollar has risen significantly on the world market, while other currencies have lost value. This means imported products should cost a lot less," he says. "Most businesses simply put the extra profits in their pockets, but AirGyro is taking a different and perhaps risky approach. AirGyro Aviation is dramatically dropping the price of the Outback 2."

Oldham notes that risk stems from the uncertain nature of the world markets. "Currency exchange rates are very volatile, and the present trend could reverse itself in a matter of days," he warns. "We have reached an agreement with Australian Light Wing, manufacturer of the Outback 2, to freeze the price of their Outback 2 for production blocks of four aircraft.

"After a block of four planes are built, the price to US customers will be reevaluated. This is probably going to be a one time opportunity to get a great plane at a price that will not be seen again."

Oldham adds discounts are also available on avionics, and that financing is "readily available."
