FAA Revokes Repair Station Certificate Of Tandem Aviation, Inc.

Company Allegedly Improperly Serviced Aircraft Parts And Falsified Maintenance Records

The FAA has issued an Emergency Order revoking the repair station certificate of Tandem Aviation, Inc., of Hialeah, FL for allegedly improperly servicing aircraft parts and falsifying maintenance records.

The FAA alleges that on Aug. 7, 2017, Tandem knowingly performed an incomplete overhaul of an air compressor that was part of an aircraft braking system. Specifically, the company did not test the system for 28 hours as required by the approved overhaul process. The company also falsified records to indicate that it had properly repaired and tested the part.

The agency also alleges that between September 2016 and July 2017, Tandem failed to use proper equipment to test power drive units that were part of an aircraft pneumatic system. On August 24, 2017, the company overhauled a pneumatic isolating valve and did not follow methods prescribed in the aircraft maintenance manual, the agency alleges.

Due to the seriousness of the alleged violations, the FAA determined that emergency action was required to immediately revoke Tandem’s repair station certificate.

Tandem surrendered its certificate and did not appeal the FAA’s order.
