ANN REALTIME REPORTING 04.14.06 1215 ES: Talk about down
to the wire. Aero-News has learned a tentative agreement has been
reached on a new contract between Delta Air Lines, and its pilots
union -- less than 24 hours before a federal arbitration panel was
expected to rule if the bankrupt carrier could toss out its
existing contract with pilots, a move that almost certainly would
have resulted in a debilitating pilots strike.

TSA "Terrorist" Turns Out To Be A Homeward-Bound Marine
The Transportation Security Administration bagged a terrorist in
Los Angeles International Airport Tuesday, or so they thought.
Daniel Brown's name came up on their no-fly watchlist, so they
dragged him into interrogation and grilled him, despite the
protestations of Brown and his fellow travelers -- like Brown,
members of the USMC Reserves returning home from Iraq -- who swore
they could vouch for him.
A Chelsea, MI police chief searching for a man who ran following
a traffic stop, as well as a fire department official who
volunteered the use of his private helicopter to help with that
search, both died Thursday when their Robinson R22 went down after
a suspected engine failure.

Says Transcripts Were Provided By "Friends" At The
Airlines
Last month, Aero-News reported on the possible connection
between the two airlines being sued for negligence and wrongful
death related to the 9/11 hijackings, and TSA attorney Carla
Martin. Now, attorneys of the families now suing United and
American for the loss of their friends and loved ones on 9/11 have
served papers against Martin, too, alleging she "colluded and/or
conspired" with representatives from the airlines.
Will Also Acknowledge Volunteer Pilots At AirVenture
On Thursay, representatives with the EAA told Aero-News the
Young Eagles Program -- the most successful youth aviation
education initiative ever created -- is on track to fly a total of
at least 1.25 million Young Eagles by EAA AirVenture 2006.
In what sounds like a little like the story of the man who
refused to go to the doctor ("if I go, he may find there's
something wrong with me"), NASA engineers are currently mulling
over whether to conduct a test fueling of the space shuttle
Discovery's external fuel tank.

Had Deferred On Orders To Wait For More Efficient Plane
It wasn't their first choice... but it's better than nothing.

orders for the slow-selling Airbus A340-600 model to the upcoming
A380 superjumbo.
