GAMA Admits 4 New Members

Aircorps, Dynon, Kaney, and teTra Join the Manufacturing Association

The General Aviation Manufacturers Association, an international trade association,  has added four new additions to the fold, with three members and one associate member.

The first, AirCorps Aviation, was founded in 2011 as a Warbird Restoration company. The last decade has led to build-to-print part fabrication, full restoration, parts manufacturing, inspections, and reverse engineering for pieces long out of production. For operators of vintage aircraft, AirCorps can use its imaging systems to generate an accurate CAD model of the part, then build digital records and drawings to preserve the data, or to move it to production. For old microfilm records, they offer digitizing services to keep the the legacy of each blueprint alive, with their own drawing and cataloging processes to record drawing numbers for storage. The breadth of their expertise seems to encompass the entirety of vintage aircraft stewardship, an essential job to preserve irreplaceable history.

The second addition to GAMA, Dynon Inc, is an avionics and systems manufacturer founded in Bemidji, Minnesota in 2000. Many pilots will have seen their glass panel avionics, the Skyview series, in use in many light sport, experimentals, and part 23 aircraft. Their classic EFIS-D10 debuted in 2003 as a single screen “10-in-1” instrument that combined multiple instruments into a single 3” instrument panel hole. One D10 was installed as the backup instrumentation on the X-Prize winning  SpaceShipOne, and saw notable use when the primary instrumentation system became unusable.

The last member-level addition, Kaney Aerospace, was founded in Rockford, Illinois in 2006. Specializing in actuation, motion control, power electronics, custom test equipment, and turnkey systems for manned and unmanned aircraft, space, and land vehicles, Kaney has seen increased business from the rapid pace of AAM development in recent years. Case study examples of their engineering expertise include spacecraft payload analysis, supply chain assessment, and power system evaluation. Kaney is an EASA as well as an FAA Part 145 licensed repair station.

Finally, teTra Aviation Corporation has joined GAMA at the associate member level. Founded in Bunkyo-ku, Japan, in 2018, teTra is an AAM manufacturer and designer for personal eVTOL aircraft. They pride themselves on sustainability, developing their own communications and on-demand transportation systems. Their commercially available Mk-5, an electric, experimental personal aircraft, will begin delivery in 2022.
