CubCrafters Introduces Two New Aircraft

25 Years Of Cubs

CubCrafters has just announced that the TOP CUB and the SPORT CUB aircraft are joining their lineup. The company received their type certificate for the Top Cub in December, and it will make its Lakeland debut this week.

"TOP CUB picks up where Super Cub, and its many imitators, leave off," says Jim Richmond, CubCrafters founder and CEO. "We certified TOP CUB to the highest FAA standard - part 23 amendment 55."

TOP CUB standard features include a 1,200 pound empty weight, an 1,100 pound useful load, redesigned struts, 26G adjustable Oregon Aero seats, a 52 gallon fuel system, Vortex Generators and more. It will be offered in three versions, each having unique interiors, paint schemes and options.

"With the simplicity of a fixed pitch prop mated to an 180hp Lycoming 0-360 Engine, TOP CUB is easily the class leader in two-place utility and personal aircraft. There is no better value in this class of aircraft than TOP CUB…it's the ultimate, most-capable airplane for any personal adventure," adds Richmond.

CubCrafters prototype Light Sport Aircraft (LSA) category SPORT CUB is nearing completion. SPORT CUB is designed to meet the needs of customers who want the fun of the classic American taildragger in a safe and modern design."

Similar to the PA-11 or original PA-18, the SPORT CUB is designed to have a far more comfortable airframe, pilot-friendly cockpit, Continental O-200 engine, all-new avionics suite and many new safety features and enhancements. Initial prices should be under $90,000.

SPORT CUB will have a bigger door for easier entry and exit, a 4" wider fuselage, a simpler and stronger fuselage with many carbon fiber components, and a target empty weight of 825 lbs. Flaps and other performance and safety enhancing features are under evaluation as customer selected options.

"SPORT CUB will be built to the same engineering and production standards, on the same production line and under the same Quality Assurance program as our FAA part 23 certified TOP CUB," adds Richmond.

CubCrafters is positioning itself for growth. Director of Sales and Marketing, Todd Simmons, and Director of Manufacturing, Nathan Humbard were recently hired. CubCrafters is planning for increased unit production, overhauling aircraft manufacturing and part fabrication facilities, adopting 'lean manufacturing' practices, and significantly increasing CNC tooling capabilities.
