Pimco: One Year On

Piper’s Industrial Venture Continues Collecting Certifications

A year ago, Piper Aircraft announced its newest endeavor, the Piper Industrial Manufacturing Company, a spinoff of the firm that could use the company's base of equipment and engineering expertise to tackle projects outside the company's purview.

Piper checked in on their progress, telling attendees that PIMCO has "achieved several key milestones and is actively pursuing more." First off they bragged about meeting the standards for Stage 1 of the AS9100 Rev D quality system certification audit, giving PIMCO some globally recognized bonafides in the aerospace game. The final Stage 2 audit is expected to be held in the 4th quarter of 2024, and Piper expects to pass it just fine.

“AS9100 will not only open doors for PIMCO but also enhance quality across Piper,” said Stuart McSorley, Sr. Director of Production Compliance & Oversight at Piper Aircraft. “This achievement will improve customer experience and enable new partnerships in the aerospace and defense sectors, leveraging PIMCO’s machining and fabrication capabilities.”

In addition to the AS9100 spec, PIMCO is tackling Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) 2.0, expected to go into effect in 2025. The Department of Defense plans to include CMMC requirements in all solicitations it puts up for grabs after October 2026, making the cert a vital element for anyone hunting for government work.

“We are proud of the advancements made since the formation of PIMCO last year,” stated Ron Gunnarson, VP of Sales, Marketing & Customer Support at Piper. “All of these efforts have contributed to developing a robust customer base, resulting in revenue figures that exceed initial projections. PIMCO’s rapid success is a testament to its strategic vision and operational excellence.”
