EASA Expands ETSO Authorization For Evolution FDS

Covers System Components Which Have Received FAA Approval

The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has expanded the European Technical Standard Order (ETSO) authorization for Aspen’s Evolution Flight Display to include additional system components previously approved by the FAA. This latest EASA approval expands the ETSO authorization to include the Aspen Evolution 1500, 2000, and 2500 systems. These systems include both Primary Flight Display and Multi-function Flight Display capabilities developed for CS-23 fixed-wing aircraft up to 5700 kg, and for CS-27 VFR helicopter applications.

This latest EASA authorization also includes the Aspen EA100 Adapter for autopilots, which provides a digital-to-analog data conversion between Evolution’s solid-state attitude heading reference system (AHRS) and the aircraft’s attitude-based autopilot system. The adapter provides operators the option to remove aging (and expensive) mechanical gyros when they install the Evolution Flight Display System.

“This is great news for our European STC partners and dealers who have anxiously awaited this approval,” says John Uczekaj, Aspen’s President and CEO. “Opening up the European market to Aspen’s full range of system options is also great news for owners and operators looking for an affordable retrofit glass panel solution.”

Additional details and schedules concerning EASA STCs will be provided as they become available.
