Aero-News Gets 'Professional Help'

It's something that we've been told to get on many occasions, and have taken the suggestions to heart: we've gotten 'professional help," in the person of Mr. Larry Pius.

Known through the industry as a driving factor in the early success of AvWeb, Larry, an Air Force Viet Nam veteran (and T-37 instructor pilot) is the new Director of Sales and Marketing, here at Aero-News.

Larry's mastery of the market, his helpfulness at achieving advertisers' goals, and his insights into the industry will be appreciated among ANN's advertisers -- and certainly at our new headquarters, where the addition of a full-timer specialist will allow the rest of us to bring you even more, even better-written (it that's possible!) news, every day.

As ANN has grown, our first move has always been to increase the quality and quantity of services we provide to the huge numbers of flyers who read ANN every day -- Larry's addition should prove to be a pivotal force in offering ANN's readers more than ever before.

Larry continues the Aero-News tradition of staffing with pilots, too. In addition to his being a T-37 primary instructor, his 4000+ hours cover a lot of ground. He holds commercial, instrument, helicopter and multi-engine ratings, and is type rated in the SK-61. As Major Pius (USAF), he was based at Ton Son Nhut AB, and flew combat rescue, flying, in addition to the EC-47, several helicopters, including the HH-1, H-34, and HH-3E. He was also awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross.

ANN Editor-In-Chief, Jim Campbell, noted that, "This is going to be fun... We've prided ourselves on getting the very best people we can find, but also people we genuinely like and respect. We've already got the best News-Editor, I know, in the guise of Tim Kern and some truly outstanding staffers and contributors such as Pete Combs, Juan Jimenez, Kevin O'Brien, Rob Milford, Tom Griffith, John Ballantyne, Aleta Vinas, and several others... but Larry's addition is exceptional in that we know of NO ONE with the skill and experience proven (for many years) by Larry in this field.

Best of all; this has always been a staff that has an extraordinary love for, and commitment to, aviation... and that is something that Larry also brings to this incredible mix of aviation professionals. I couldn't be more pleased to welcome a guy with such impressive credentials and talent to our organization.

With his help, ANN is going to be able to do more to educate, inform and promote aviation than ever before... and that's truly the reason that ANN was created."

Larry's experience, dedication, and good cheer are heartily welcomed by all here at the Aero-News Network. [Hey, Larry, we're happy you're here! --ed.]
