FAA Declines Action On Pilot Involved In Toilet Paper Drop

But State Authorities Are Still Deciding On Criminal Charges

The pilot who dropped several rolls of toilet paper from his Cessna 172 while "rehearsing" for a colored streamer drop at a local high school football game will not face penalties from the FAA, but the state of New Jersey has not yet decided if it will pursue action against him.

Pilot Warren Suanders was planning to drop rolls of streamers in school colors from his airplane over a football game in October, and he decided a practice run would be in order using rolls of toilet paper in place of the streamers. But people on a nearby soccer field saw the plane dropping "something," and called police thinking it could be some kind of terrorist attack.

The FAA told the Record of Woodland Park in New Jersey that it had investigated and found "no grounds for further action" against Saunders, but the state of New Jersey has still not determined whether to bring criminal charges against him for dropping two rolls of TP from his airplane.
