Airborne-Flight Training 02.18.21: FSANA Postpones, Robinson Video, HAI FIRC

Also: US Helicopter Safety Team, DPE Model Code of Conduct, Spatial Disorientation, American Flyers

Another much-anticipated event, one that was pretty an indoor convention, has been delayed due to issues associated with the pandemic.

The Flight School Association of North America notes that, "Through discussions with members, suppliers, government officials and hotel management, the FSANA board and staff have decided to reschedule the 2021 conference. We apologize to anyone unable to make the new date, but feel the move will make for a better conference for all who attend or exhibit. We expect that we may have our largest attendance ever." The event is now scheduled for August 18-20, 2021, and will still be held in the Rosen Plaza in Orlando, Florida. Robinson's Cockpit Video Camera introduced at Heli Expo 2020 is now optional on R22/R44 helicopters and standard on R66 helicopters ordered after 15 January 2021. Securely mounted in the ceiling for minimal vibration and optimal field of view, the 4K Ultra HD (3840 x 2160 pixels) video camera records video, intercom audio, radio communications, and GPS position to a removable 128 GB USB flash drive. Recording starts automatically when the helicopter is turned on and stops when it is turned off. HAI's Flight Instructor Refresher Course (FIRC) has traditionally been a big part of the education program at HAI HELI-EXPO. With the 2021 show having been canceled, this year they're bringing FIRC training to you-virtually. This two-day, 16-hour, helicopter-specific online course will cover the latest updates in regulations and helicopter flight instruction techniques from leading industry professionals. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
