Historic Aircraft Rides Offered: B-17, B-25, C-47, UH-1

Yankee Air Museum Of Flight: Ride in B-17, B-25, C-47, or UH-1

The Yankee Air Museum’s tour schedule run from May to September 2022, and during that time, you have several opportunities to ride in their historic ‘traveling museum’ which consists of a B-17 “Yankee Lady”, B-25 “Rosie’s Reply”, C-47 “Hairless Joe”, or UH-1 “Huey Greyhound” helicopter.

Whether you are looking for something special for Father’s day (19 Jun 2022), an enthusiast, or any other occasion, this might fit the bill.

The Yankee Air Museum was founded in 1981 in Southeast Michigan, and has grown, thanks in great part to its flyable aircraft as enthusiasts, aviators, and those from a different time sought to relive history by taking a flight aboard these monuments that are a testament to the dedication, ingenuity, and sacrifice of those who came before us “where heroes have flown”.

Apparently, a fire in 2004 caused significant destruction, including the original WWI building that served as the museum.

The site was rebuilt and reopened in 2010, and with the help of the ‘Save the Bomber Plant’ campaign, the museum was able to purchase additional real estate to house its large aircraft acquisitions.

If you wish to be involved/engaged beyond the historic flight, the museum is always looking for volunteers, donations and financial support; there is flight-crew donor option for as little as $10/month! The museum encourages education and outreach via camps, tours, scholarships, and more.
