Belgian Flight Academy Purchases Mechtronix Ascent XJ Trainer

BAFA To Provide MCC Training As Part Of Expansion

Flight training equipment provider Mechtronix Systems announced this week a purchase from Ben Air Flight Academy (BAFA) for an Ascent XJ Trainer, configured as a generic twin-engine large jet aircraft with a conversion kit to commercial turboprop, specifically to the ATR series.

The unit will be based at BAFA's flight training facility in Antwerp International Airport, Belgium. The FTO plans to use the device to provide MCC training as part of an expansion plan to bring this type of training in-house, as well as being able to offer Phase 2 training in an MPL curriculum.

The new simulator will serve the academy by familiarizing its students with the commercial jet flight deck, FMS, EFIS, TCAS, EGPWS, weather radar, performance and speed. Mechtronix says the Ascent XJ offers exceptional Full Flight Simulator comparable visual system image fidelity, all while featuring a 180 x 35 degree display. The training academy plans to deploy the unit in 2009 while seeking qualification JAR FSTD A FNPT II MCC under JAA regulations.

"We look forward to taking delivery of the Mechtronix Ascent XJ Trainer and see this important purchase as a way to provide both our students and instructors with a reliable source for MCC training in a state-of-the-art jet environment", said Mr. Marc Kegelaers CEO of BAFA. "This unit represents our second purchase with Mechtronix and we keep on being amazed by the realism of their training environment. We are looking for a device in which our students could familiarize themselves with modern turboprop and jet environments in a highly reliable, flexible and cost-effective way. Mechtronix was an obvious choice for us."

"We thank the academy for selecting the XJ Trainer and we are pleased that BAFA has chosen us once again", said Mechtronix' President & COO Mr. Xavier Herve. "This order is a clear indicator that we have a strong product offer for jet transition training and that we are a true leader in providing tools ideally suited to obtain a high level of proficiency for new pilots. Our Ascent XJ Trainer is setting leading standards for MCC training performed in a jet environment."

Headquartered in Montreal, Mechtronix World is the fastest growing designer and manufacturer of flight simulators.
