Senate Debate Continues On FAA Reauthorization Bill

U.S. House Passes Another Three-Month Extension At Current Funding Levels

The United States Senate continues debate on the FAA Reauthorization bill, working its way through a pile of amendments before calling for a final vote.

One amendment that was defeated this week would have places a one-year moratorium on Senate earmarks. Another, which would have re-authorized a controversial school voucher system for poor families in Washington, DC, was also voted down.

And if you're wondering how either of those things are germane to a bill providing funding for the FAA, well according to the rules of the Senate they don't have to be.

Roll Call reports that there are still dozens of amendments to be considered, which meant the Senate would be working on the bill through the week.

Multiple media sources report that the U.S. House has passed another three-month extension of current FAA authorization, which will keep the agency running at it current funding level through June.
