AD: XtremeAir GmbH Airplanes

AD NUMBER: 2018-07-15

PRODUCT: XtremeAir GmbH Model XA42 airplanes equipped with an engine mount part number XA42-7120-151.

ACTION: Final Rule; request for comments.

SUMMARY: This AD results from mandatory continuing airworthiness information (MCAI) issued by the aviation authority of another country to identify and address an unsafe condition on an aviation product.

The MCAI describes the unsafe condition as cracking of the diagonal strut of the engine mount frame.

DATES: This AD is effective April 30, 2018. Comments must be received by May 24, 2018.

COST: The FAA estimates hat this AD will affect 13 products of U.S. registry. The agency estimates that it would take about .5 work-hour per product to comply with the basic requirements of this AD. The average labor rate is $85 per work-hour. Based on these figures, The estimated cost of the AD on U.S. operators to be $42.50 per product.

In addition, the FAA estimates that any necessary follow-on actions would take about 24 work-hours and require parts costing $5,000, for a cost of $7,040.00 per product. The agency has no way of determining the number of products that may need these actions.
