Fourteen proposals were selected for funding in Alaska, Alabama, Hawaii, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, Utah, West Virginia, and Wyoming. Winning proposals were selected through a merit-based, peer-reviewed competition.

One proposal was selected from each of the following universities and organizations:

  • Brown University, Providence, R.I.
  • Louisiana Board of Regents, Baton Rouge
  • Montana State University, Bozeman
  • University of Alabama, Huntsville
  • University of Alaska, Fairbanks
  • University of Hawaii, Honolulu

  • University of Missouri, Rolla
  • University of Nebraska, Omaha
  • University of Nevada, Reno

The selections are part of NASA's Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR).
